Home screen widgets and Siri

Dzikir App has home screen widgets on Android, iPhone and iPad: Prayer Times, Daily Dzikir, Tasbih, Al-Qur'an and hadith bookmarks with your last read, and Qibla (plus Dzikir App AI on iPhone and iPad). On iPhone and iPad you can also ask Siri. On a computer, the desktop app shows today's prayers, your tasbih count and shortcuts in the menu bar or system tray.

Quick start

  1. Open Dzikir App once so it loads your prayer times and today's progress.
  2. In the app, open Settings → Widgets to see a live preview of each widget with your own data and theme.
  3. Android: tap Add on a widget in Settings → Widgets, or touch and hold an empty spot on the home screen, tap Widgets, then find Dzikir App.
  4. iPhone and iPad: touch and hold the home screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Dzikir App.
  5. Mac (macOS Sonoma or later): right-click the desktop, choose Edit Widgets, and add Dzikir App from your iPhone's widgets. Your iPhone needs Dzikir App and the same Apple Account.
  6. Choose a widget, pick a size and place it.

In detail

Prayer Times widget

Shows the next prayer and today's five prayer times.

  • iPhone and iPad: small and medium sizes, with a live countdown to the next prayer. The medium size also lists the day with the next prayer highlighted.
  • Lock Screen (iPhone): the next prayer and its time.
  • Android: a 4×2 widget with the next prayer and the day's times. It moves on to the next prayer by itself, within about ten minutes of each prayer time.
  • Times follow the location set in the app.

Daily Dzikir widget

Shows today's morning and evening dhikr and your tasbih count.

  • A check mark shows when Morning Dhikr or Evening Dhikr is done.
  • The bar fills as you finish each one.
  • It starts empty each new day, even without opening the app.

Tasbih, bookmarks, Qibla and AI widgets

More widgets for what you use most.

  • Tasbih: today's count for your dhikr, with +1 to count right from the home screen. Switch dhikr by tapping ▶ on iPhone and iPad, or by scrolling on Android.
  • Al-Qur'an and hadith bookmarks: your last read comes first, then your bookmarks. Tap one to open it in the reader.
  • Qibla: a compass card with the Qibla direction from your location.
  • Dzikir App AI (iPhone and iPad): start a question from your home screen.

Colors

Widgets follow your theme color and Light, Dark or System setting from Settings.

  • Light mode fills the widget with your theme color.
  • Dark mode uses the app's dark background with your theme color for highlights.

Siri and Shortcuts (iPhone and iPad)

Ask Siri in your language, or use the actions in the Shortcuts app.

  • "Next prayer in Dzikir App" answers with the next prayer and its time, without opening the app.
  • "Continue reading Quran in Dzikir App" and "Continue reading hadith in Dzikir App" open where you left off.
  • "Open tasbeeh in Dzikir App", "Open dhikr in Dzikir App" and "Find the Qibla in Dzikir App" open those screens.
  • The same actions, plus your latest bookmarks and Dzikir App AI, are listed under Dzikir App in the Shortcuts app.

Menu bar and system tray (desktop)

The desktop app keeps today's prayers and your tasbih close: in the Mac menu bar, or in the system tray on Windows and Linux.

  • Mac: the next prayer and its time sit next to the beads icon in the menu bar.
  • Open the menu to see today's prayer times, today's tasbih count, and shortcuts: continue reading Al-Qur'an or hadith, Tasbih, your latest bookmarks and Dzikir App AI.
  • Windows and Linux: hover over the tray icon or open its menu. On GNOME, the tray needs the AppIndicator extension.
  • It moves on to the next prayer by itself. Closing the window keeps Dzikir App in the menu bar or tray, so reminders keep coming. Choose Quit to close it completely.
  • Turn on Open at login in Settings → Notifications & Reminders to start it in the background each time you log in.

Tips

  • Keep the Prayer Times widget on your first home screen page to see the next prayer at a glance.
  • Change your theme color or appearance in Settings and the widgets follow right away.
  • Wearing an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch? See the watch guide to put the next prayer on your watch face.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my widget empty?

Open Dzikir App once. Widgets show what the app has loaded, such as your prayer times.

Does tapping a widget open the app?

On iPhone and iPad, yes. On Android, not yet.

Does Siri work in my language?

Yes. Siri phrases work in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Chinese, and Siri answers in your iPhone's language. The Shortcuts app actions are in your iPhone's language too.

Are widgets on desktop or the web?

On a Mac with macOS Sonoma or later, you can add the iPhone widgets to your desktop (see the steps above). Windows, Linux and the web don't have widgets, and Siri is only on iPhone and iPad. The desktop app shows the next prayer in the menu bar or system tray instead (see above).
